Upon setting out on this journey to understand who the Shadow Man is and what he would become, I often found myself over complicating his story. He's a being cursed with the burden of society's rules, forced to hide behind a mask. As he continues to conform in the eyes of a society that does not accept him, he slowly loses his own self identity. This results in him never being able to take off the mask, as a new one grows in its place. This was a start, but I couldn't figure out the details. How old is he? Does he have a family? Then I began imagining wild stories. Now he could manipulate a sinister magic harnessed from a trinity of tools called the Legion. He would use it for purposes he wouldn't even tell me about. All these things that couldn't be wrapped up in 15 images. For me, this manifested into something I was not prepared for. I have a story to tell, and I am most certainly not done yet.
